OLLY LANCASHIRE faces
a battle to force his way
back into the Crewe side
following his red card.
The centre-back
picked up a second
booking after Eddie
Nolan punished Walsall.
Boss Dave Artell said:
“I won’t be drawn on
what I think about Olly.
“I will just say I think
the referee was spot on.
“One door closes and
another one opens for
someone else.”
SCUNTHORPE boss Paul
Hurst has backed new
signing Abo Eisa to make
a big impact following his
switch from Shrewsbury.
The winger didn’t get
on the scoresheet but
Hurst said: “He showed
the fans what he can do.
“I really think he can
be a crowd favourite.”
Rory McArdle and
Matty Lund put the hosts
ahead after Bez Lubala’s
opener, before Town’s
Nathan Ferguson levelled.
CARETAKER-MANAGER
Danny Whitaker believes
Macclesfield can have a
great season.
Macc overcame Sol
Campbell’s exit as boss
to win through Theo
Archibald’s late goal.
Whitaker said: “This
squad can go as far as
it wants to go. They are
young and hungry.”
Ben Stephens fired
Macc ahead, before
Northampton’s Jordan
Turnbull levelled.
ROSS EMBLETON is
convinced Orient’s goal
drought will end soon.
The O’s have scored
just once in four games,
but boss Embleton
insisted: “People may
have questioned us but
we have been
defensively strong and
created more than we
have done, so I feel we
have built again.
“We had 23 attempts
on goal so there are
some positives to take.”
JUNIOR MONDAL is
happy to wait for his
chance after handing
boss Mark Cooper a
reminder of his threat.
Mondal sent Grimsby
home pointless after
coming off the bench.
The striker said: “It
was good to be able to
make an impact.
“The manager has
shown his belief in me by
bringing me on again.
“I just have to keep
patient and work hard.”
NEWPORT boss Michael
Flynn is satisfied with his
side’s start after Kyle
Howkins’ strike secured a
first league win this term.
Flynn said: “The main
thing we tried to get over
to the players was that
we wanted a good start.
“The league table does
not form properly for 12
games, so we’ll have a
look where we are then.
“It’s always important
to have a good start and
I think we’ve done that.”
GARY BOWYER
declared himself happy
with his Bradford
squad, but admits he
wants more new faces.
The Bantams boss
said: “We have a lot of
depth this season, but
hopefully we can add a
few more before the end
of the transfer window.”
James Vaughan,
Clayton Donaldson and
Sean Scannell scored
the goals in City’s first
win of the season.
LEE MARTIN hopes his
showing off the bench
will earn him an Exeter
starting spot.
Martin and fellow sub
Matt Jay combined for
a goal with Swindon’s
Eoin Doyle levelling.
Martin said: “I was
disappointed not to
start – but when you
come on you have to
make an impact.
“I got lucky with the
assist but I had to be
there in the first place.”
COLIN CALDERWOOD
is demanding
improvements from his
Cambridge side.
Harry Darling’s late
strike delivered a first
league win, but their
boss was unimpressed.
He said: “We’ve got
to try and experience
another win, but really
improve ourselves.”
Luke Norris’s penalty
gave Colchester an
early lead and Marc
Richards levelled.
MICHAEL DUFF has
no plans to boost his
firepower despite
Cheltenham registering
blanks in three of their
first four games.
The Robins boss said:
“I’ve got forwards. You
end up just collecting
people. We scored four
goals last week and we
got into really good
areas today.
“You can’t always
score. We have to be
strong at the back.”
MANSFIELD defender
Hayden White says this
win at Brunton Park
can be the launchpad
for Mansfield’s’ season.
“It’s a big result but
it’s still early on in the
season,” he said.
“The boys needed
that – it’s a big boost
for us. We’ll go into
Tuesday’s game with
Orient bouncing.”
Danny Rose and
Nicky Maynard netted
for The Stags.
PORT VALE’S Richie
Bennett admits the
gloss was taken off his
first goal of the season.
Bennett put Vale
ahead before Jake
Beesley levelled late on.
And striker Bennett
said: “It’s bittersweet.
There’s disappointment
but we’ve got
something to build on.
“Overall we feel like
it’s been a loss. We’ve
got to take some
confidence out of it.”

Dawson finished off the poor
visitors. Birmingham defender
Marc Roberts said: “We’ve changed
our style of play. It’s not going to
come overnight.
“We were a little bit soft in areas
and that’s not us. Regardless of
playing nice football,
we’ve got to be a bit
more steely and keep
that identity we have
built.”
Blues had no
answer to Forest star
Lolley, who tore them
apart and would have
had two goals himself
but for smart work by Lee Camp.
Aston Villa fan Lolley loves
playing against Birmingham and
has scored in their last three visits.
Maybe it was a Blues player who
inspired him this time... Spanish
midfielder Fran Villalba.
lengthening shaggy beard of his. It
ain’t going to happen.
Lamouchi just wants Grabban to
get goals and that’s two in his last
two games going into Wednesday’s
fixture at Charlton. But a bit of calm
wouldn’t go amiss.
Of the previous
three Forest gaffers,
Mark Warburton
lasted nine months,
Karanka 12 months
and O’Neill five
months. Lamouchi is
currently on 53 days.
“It would be nice to
have a stable run,”
admits Grabban. “The teams that
have a good bunch of players for
long periods, they keep going and I
think eventually we will have that.
“We are still in a transition period
where we are growing and I think
we are getting better. Once we get
in a rhythm, which will hopefully be
from now, we will be good.
“Up to a point last season we
were really good and we have to
prolong it through the whole
season. Signs are good just now.”
Forest overwhelmed Blues, giving
Lamouchi his first Championship
victory. Joe Lolley scored a beauty,
then set up Grabban, and Michael
He’s sure Forest are going

LEWIS GRABBAN is looking for
20 goals this season – and a
manager who lasts more than
five minutes.
The Nottingham Forest striker is
on his third boss in 13 months at
the City Ground.
Aitor Karanka paid £6million for
him from Bournemouth.
Martin O’Neill didn’t see a lot of
Grabban because of an Achilles
(^) injury. But now Sabri Lamouchi is
benefiting from Grabban being fit,
well and firing.
Grabban (above, celebrating
Forest’s second goal against
Birmingham) got 16 last season, 15
in the Championship.
The 31-year-old Londoner said:
“In regards to last season I think, if
I’d have been able to stay fit, I would
have been able to get past that 20-
goal mark. I was on track.”
O’Neill wanted Grabban to graft
more, do some chasing, but that’s
not his game. You might as well ask
Grabban to shave off that ever-
