Moment of

AW
BORNEAN ORANGUTAN, native to
Borneo, an island in Southeast Asia
Avilon Zoo, Rizal, Philippines
I knew Trixie was special when she
walked into the room holding her
keeper’s hand. Since this orangutan
grew up with her keepers, she was
totally relaxed around us. I pointed
to the corner of the room where I
wanted to do the photo shoot, and
Trixie walked right over. Then she
lay down and looked at me
through the lens of the camera.
I felt like she could understand
everything I said, so I just
told her to strike a pose.
As you can see, she did it
perfectly.

Orangutans
sleep in giant
nests they
create in the
forest canopy.
