Tennessee Williams/New
Orleans Literary Festival
FICTION CONTEST
A prize of $1,500 and publication
in Louisiana Literature is given annually
for a short story by a writer who has not
published a full-length book of fiction.
The winner also receives domestic air-
fare of up to $500, private lodging, and
an invitation to read at the Tennessee
Williams/New Orleans Literary Fes-
tival in March 2020. Maurice Carlos
Ruffin will judge. Submit a story of up
to 7,000 words with a $25 entry fee by
October 1. All entries are considered for
publication in a festival anthology. Visit

POETRY CONTEST
A prize of $1,000 is given annually for
a group of poems. The winner will
also be invited to give a reading at the
Tennessee Williams/New Orleans
Literary Festival in March 2020. Writ-
ers who have not published a book of
poetry are eligible. Beth Ann Fennelly
will judge. Submit two to four poems
totaling no more than 400 lines with a
$15 entry fee by October 15. All entries
are considered for publication in a

Travelers’ Tales
SOLAS AWARD
A prize of $1,000 and publication in the
biannual anthology The Best Travel Writ-
ing and on the Travelers’ Tales website is
given annually for a travel essay. Writers
from Arizona and Vermont are eligible
for publication, but not the cash prize.
The editors will judge. Using only the
online submission system, submit an
essay of 750 to 5,500 words with a $25
entry fee by September 21. All entries

Tucson Festival of Books
LITERARY AWARDS
Three prizes of $1,000 each are given
annually for works of poetry, fiction,
and creative nonfiction. The winners
will also be invited to take part in a
panel discussion at the annual Tucson
Festival of Books and attend a workshop
on the University of Arizona campus
in March 2020. Using only the online
submission system, submit five poems
of any length or a short story, essay, or
excerpt from a novel or memoir of up to
5,000 words with a $20 entry fee by Oc-
