Dorland Mountain Arts Colony
The Dorland Mountain Arts Colony
offers residencies of up to 12 weeks year-
round to poets, fiction writers, and cre-
ative nonfiction writers in the secluded
hills overlooking the Temecula Valley
in southern California. Residents are
provided with lodging and work space
in a private cottage with a full kitchen,
bedroom, bath, and porch. The cost of
the residency is $325 to $450 per week or
$1,100 to $1,400 for four weeks; residents
are responsible for their own transporta-
tion and meals. Submit a writing sample
of up to 15 pages, a résumé, and two
letters of recommendation (sent directly
to the program by the references) with
a $40 application fee. Applications are
accepted on a rolling basis, but must be
postmarked at least 30 days prior to the

Conference
The Colrain Poetry Manuscript Confer-
ence will be held from October 25 to
October 28 at Truchas Peaks Place in
Truchas, New Mexico, and from No-
vember 8 to November 11 at the Brandt
House in Greenfield, Massachusetts.
The conference features workshops of
book-length poetry manuscripts with
editors and publishers. The faculty for
the October session, which is open to all
poets with a book-length or chapbook-
length manuscript, includes Peter
Covino, Richard Greenfield, and Rusty
Morrison. The faculty for the November
Intensive session includes Joan Houlihan
and Martha Rhodes; the session is open
to poets who have published a book, have
already attended a Colrain conference,
or have been a finalist or semifinal-
ist for a book contest. The cost of the
conference, which includes lodging and
meals, is $1,400 for the October session
and $1,675 for the November intensive.
Using only the online application system,
submit three or four poems and a brief
bio. There is no application fee. Appli-
cations are accepted on a rolling basis.
Brown Foundation Fellows
Program
The Brown Foundation Fellows Program
offers residencies of one to two months
from March through November to mid-
career poets, fiction writers, and creative
nonfiction writers at the Dora Maar
House in Ménerbes, France. Residents
are provided with lodging, work space,
travel expenses, and a stipend of $50 per
day, and must participate in one commu-
nity event during the residency. For resi-
dencies from March 2020 through June
2020, using only the online application
system submit two work samples totaling
no more than 20 pages, a curriculum
vitae, a project description, a proposal
for a community event, and two letters
of recommendation (sent directly to the
program by the references) with a $20
application fee by October 15. Visit the
