Big success and 200,000 visitors at the
National Gallery Singapore: the Children’s
Biennale now tours to Dresden (until 24
February, Staatliche Kunstsammlungen).
The event offers an impressive level of
interactivity suited to art for kids and
involves around a dozen international
artists. Olafur Eliasson, for example, who with
three tons of white Lego blocks is building a
city of the future with the ideas,
memories and desires of visitors.
And while the Japanese collective
teamLab creates a digital world under the
sea on ethics and sustainability, Rivane
Neuenschwander uses shadows/projections
to face the theme of fear and Lynn Lu gathers
precious written memories and dreams.

The name is inspired by a Chinese
finger trap, but the goal is serious.
Weave is a modular/adjustable
hand prosthesis firmly “trapped”
to the arm via a shaft. Made for
specific activities (sports or playing
an instrument), it’s lighter and
affordable thanks to 3D printing
and adapts to growing adolescents.
The project by the Swiss designer
Laurin Schaffner is being tested by the
start-up SwissProsthetics.
