Fairs For the first time ever at imm cologne,
Knoll presented a limited-edition
version of the famous Barcelona®
Chair, designed in 1929 by Ludwig
Mies van der Rohe when he was
invited to create the Pavilion at the
International Expo in Barcelona.
To celebrate the anniversary of
Bauhaus, which Mies directed from
1930 to when the school eventually
closed in 1933, the iconic chair will
be issued in 365 pieces in 2019,
one for each day of the year, offered
in three leather colours: black,
green and cream. GG

The idea of a single-block shell slowly
took hold of the Eames brothers in the
early 1940s. In 1950, the Fiberglass
Chair saw the light of day. Over the
course of time, the creation of this
chair was adapted to changing
situations. Now a new production
method allows the shell to be made
from the original material. GG
