The Minor Arcana
T
here are 56 Minor Arcana cards in a
Tarot deck, divided into four different
suits – swords, pentacles, wands and
cups. As a rule of thumb, sword cards
deal with our inner emotions, pentacles
deal with money, wands deal with our
outer emotions and cups deal with love,
friends and family and our dreams.
Each suit has 14 cards in it, ranging
from numbers one (Ace) to 10 and with a
Knight, Jack, King and Queen card. Each
card also has two meanings, depending
if it is right way up or upside-down.
Usually the upside-down card means the
opposite of the right-way-up card.
The Minor cards are general day-to-
day advice cards, showing the reader the
steps they need to take. The higher the
number in any suit, the more positive
the advice. For example, the two of
pentacles card shows that work/
training is needed to reach fi nancial
stability. The 10 of pentacles
tells the reader that they are
already well on their way to
fi nancial success.
The Court cards – Knight,
Jack, King and Queen all
relate to people in the
reader’s
life. The
Queen is
a woman
and all
the others
are male,
although
the Page
card can
sometimes be

from the month that we’re currently
in and read each card in turn, until
you have 12 predictions. Keep a note
of these in a journal or your diary,
so that you can be guided for each
