STUFF OF

LEGENDS

K

nown for their stamina
and loyalty, horses
push through, even in
the most desperate times.
Think War Horse, and all the
millions of horses around
the world that serve in some
way, and you get an idea of
the qualities that defi ne this
awesome beast. The horse is
a symbol of power, freedom
and nobility. It was
commonly thought to
represent the four elements
of earth, air, fi re and water.
The Celts associated it with
the victory of war,
and believed it
belonged to the
sun god, while the
Ancient Greeks
thought the sea
god Poseidon was
responsible for its
creation. To the
Native Americans,
the horse was a
messenger,
bringing spirit
knowledge and
earth wisdom to
the tribe.

Harness your horse power
Need a power boost or
just to move forwards in
your life? The horse can
help. Light a candle to
represent fi re, place a glass
of water next to it as a nod
to Poseidon’s link with the
horse. Burn a sage smudge
stick or sage essential oil to
represent the element of air,
and fi nally hold a piece of
quartz crystal in both hands.
Say, ‘Spiritual steed hear my
plea, a call to arms and
victory. Enhance my power,
improve my will, so I can
climb over any hill.’ To fi nish
sip the water, and keep the
quartz with you as a charm
to draw stamina and
strength.

NATURAL HEALERS

T

oday, we don’t need horses to carry us
about the countryside or into town to do our
shopping, but they can help us in other
ways. Being in equine company and connecting
to the body language is thought to have
benefi cial effects on health and wellbeing,
putting us in a positive frame of mind, and
helping with stress. Many energy workers believe
that horses have hugely expansive auras, the
energy fi eld around the body. This helps them
reach out to us on a spiritual level and intuitively
give us what we need to heal.

Harness your horse power
The next time you see a horse, whether in the
fl esh or as a picture or another object, say a
silent hello and welcome the animal’s healing
energy into your life. You’ll feel instantly brighter
and more upbeat!
