reeping quietly into the
spiritualist church, I
found a seat at the back.
It was a funny thing – the
idea to come along to a meeting
had popped into my brain
earlier in the week, and I hadn’t
been able to get it
out of my head. In
the end, the only
sensible thing
seemed to be to
come along!
Now I watched,
fascinated, as the
medium standing
at the front of the
church connected
with spirit and gave
healing to several of the people
present. It was a pleasure to
watch their eyes light up as she
helped them.
As I stood up to leave, she
started to make her way

over to me.
‘You’re new, friend,’ she
smiled. ‘Well, you’re very
welcome here.’
Her name was Margaret and
she was the church medium. I
was drawn to her warmth, and
she was one of the
main reasons I
decided to come back
to the church the
following weekend.
And the weekend
after that...
Not long after I’d
joined the church, I
lost someone close to
me. Margaret
brought them through, exuding
so much love and wisdom from
the pulpit.
I knew I’d found my calling.
I was so lucky. Margaret
became my mentor, and with
her help, I trained in

mediumship skills
myself. She taught
me so much, which
to this day I try to
pass on.
Of course, life got
in the way and work
and a hundred other
diff erent things, so
that sometimes
‘spirit’ was put on
hold. I am glad to
say they are very
patient! But over
the next 30 years, I
trained in various
holistic/healing
practices - massage,
aromatherapy,
refl exology, and
fi nally in reiki.
With reiki, I found
my calling. To me,
reiki is magical and
a way of life.
I have my own
holistic practice of
healing body, mind
and spirit. No two days are the
same and with the help of my
guides and angels, I off er what
is needed to each of my clients.
So what exactly do I do?
Well, a typical week goes
something like this....

Monday
Bustling around the
supermarket, I come into
contact with someone who’s
exuding so much stress and
anxiety that I can feel it as a
feeling of sickness in my
stomach. My heart goes
out to this person.
On some occasions,
when this happens, I
approach them and say I
am a healer and off er a
bit of healing. But it’s
not always appropriate,
as on this occasion.
Instead, I send them
some healing and call
on their guides and
angels to help them.

Tuesday
Getting ready for a
client, I prepare the

healing room by
burning incense
and lighting a
candle for the
client’s intentions.
Then it’s time to
get myself ready.
Many people think all I do is bring
clients into my healing room and
get on with healing - this is far
from the truth.
I need to meditate to raise my
vibration, and to get myself
balanced and to go through the
rituals for reiki healing.
Sometimes I will top up my own
healing, as to heal you have to be
balanced yourself.
My guides give me feedback
which I give along with my own
feedback at the end of the session.
If more healing is required, then
another appointment can be made.

Wednesday
I am preparing for a reiki
training course – level one - and I
spend the morning writing notes,
preparing a handbook and ordering
a professionally printed certifi cate
for my client.
I check what their eating likes/
dislikes are as the two-day
session includes a light lunch.
I do one-to-one training as
my client get my undivided
attention and we usually form
a close bond. For me, that’s
more enjoyable.

Thursday
I rise early every morning
and before checking my
