David’s

How in the world
does David make a
living from his well-stocked
shop in Emmerdale? Whenever
we pay him a visit, there’s hardly
anyone in the
place and I can’t
imagine it makes
much money! I
think it can only
be a matter of
time before
the business
goes under!

Goodbye, This Week

It’s such a shame that
BBC1’s current-affairs
show This Week has
been cancelled after 16
years on our screens.
Andrew Neil’s
entertaining and
often light-hearted
look at the world
of politics was a
must-see show on
Thursday nights
and I loved his
debates with
regular guests
such as Michael
Portillo. Let’s hope
they replace it with
something good.

Net gains
I thoroughly enjoyed
the recent Netball
World Cup on BBC2
and the coverage was
fantastic. It’s not often
you see netball on the
telly! Liverpool was a
superb host city and
well done to the England
players for winning the
bronze medal – you did
us proud, girls! Hopefully
you can take gold in four
years in South Africa.

Plane silly!
Planespotting Live on BBC4 was
an utter joke. They really should
have billed it as a comedy! If this
is the best the BBC can do, then
they shouldn’t bother. As for
the presenters Peter Snow and

STARS
Colin Shearman looks
ahead to 10-16 Aug 2019
ARIES (21 March-20 April)
A lovers’ tiff or a row over cash could get
out of hand, but your social life looks fun.
Someone will have a big effect on you, too.
GEMINI (22 May-21 June)
A panic will be a false alarm and most of
your plans will run smoothly. Don’t give
in to other people’s demands too easily.
LEO (23 July-22 August)
Aspects to the Sun fill you with the joys of
Summer. Charming others will be easy but
a relationship is set to reach a crossroads.
LIBRA (23 September-22 October)
Venus makes this a moment to be sociable

  • and something you have pinned your
hopes on will go well. Be wary of promises.

SAGITTARIUS (22 November-20 December)
Work will be tedious this week and a
message may go astray, but you’ll want
the final word in a scheme or decision.

AQUARIUS (20 January-19 February)
You won’t see eye to eye with a relative and
aspects to the Moon bring out the rebel
in you. Plus, you’ll have a new admirer.

TAURUS (21 April-21 May)
Although a relative may disrupt things,
aspects to Venus ensure this is a week to
put your feet up. Be careful with ambitions.

CANCER (22 June-22 July)
Despite a pal messing you around and life
being turbulent, you’ll be happy to know
someone is keeping their side of a bargain.

VIRGO (23 August-22 September)
A twist of fate leads to a nice surprise, and
some last-minute changes could cause
trouble. Don’t be too proud to accept help.

SCORPIO (23 October-21 November)
You’ll be impressive over the next few days
but that won’t stop someone sticking their
nose in. You may need to compromise.

CAPRICORN (21 December-19 January)
You’ll be sick of hearing the same excuses
but will benefit from a partner’s generosity.
And a proposal will be up for consideration.

PISCES (20 February-20 March)
This will be a very relaxing week when an
announcement will be a weight off your
shoulders – but steer clear of time-wasters.

The kids are all right!
The Voice Kids on ITV was
brilliant this year. The young
hopefuls were just so talented
and there were some truly
outstanding performances.
I think this version is better than
the original show! Maybe Simon
Cowell should start The X Factor
Kids to revive that tired format?
I’m sure a few of these youngsters
are worth a record deal!

Wild Africa
BBC1’s new wildlife
series Serengeti was
mesmerising. The
show followed a
year in the lives of
some of the amazing
animals living on Africa’s
vast grasslands, using
groundbreaking camera
techniques to give viewers a
closer look than ever before.
There were jaw-dropping
moments as leopards and
other creatures fought for survival, but the real stars
were the unseen film crews who bring us such fantastic footage.
