SAMSUNG GALAXY S
SERIES
From `55,900, samsung.com/in/

It has been nearly a decade since Samsung started
the Galaxy range with I7500 and almost 9 years have
gone by after the S series came into existence with
I9000 (Galaxy S). To commemorate the 10th
anniversary, we are getting three models including
Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10e in India. The
Korean smartphone maker has secured five major
world’s firsts like Dynamic AMOLED, Ultrasonic
fingerprint, HDR10+ capture, Unity Gaming Engine
and Wi-Fi 6. The HDR screen delivers vivid digital
content and dynamic tone mapping paves the way
towards a realistic picture. It has received a
certification from VDE (Verband der Elektrotechnik)
for vibrant colours as well as excellent contrast ratio
and another from TÜV Rheinland to reduce blue light
without adding a filter or compromising on the
viewing. The 1200nits brightness allows usage in harsh
sunlight as verified by DisplayMate. It has been
dubbed Infinity-O due to many sensors and camera
technology packed into the hole-in/punch hole
display for increased screen real estate. Just below is
the Ultrasonic Fingerprint scanner able to read the 3D
contours of a user’s physical thumbprint
differentiating 2D images for improved anti-spoofing.
In fact, it is the first to secure FIDO Alliance Biometric
Component certification. However, S10e has a
side-mounted reader instead. HDR10+ capture is able
to combine different exposures to preserve details in
low and bright light concurrently that should lead to
some very natural looking video. All games running on
the Unity platform will work even better because of
the Adaptive Performance layer embedded into the
entire S10 line-up. Connectivity has gotten a massive
boost in the form of the latest Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and
LTE going upto 2 gigabit in speed.
Coming to the differences between the models,
S10+ (6.4-inch, 522ppi) and S10 (6.1-inch, 540ppi)
have curved Quad HD+ displays with Gorilla Glass 6
while S10e (5.8-inch,438ppi) makes do with a FHD+
flat one with Gorilla Glass 5. The rear camera setup on
S10 and S10+ comprises of a 12MP (f2.4) lens with
PDAF plus OIS, 12MP wide angle lens with Super
Speed Dual Pixel AF (f1.5/f2.4) and Ultra Wide 16MP
FF (f2.2) lens with 0.5X/2X optical zoom/10X digital
zoom. S10e has the same setup minus the telephoto
lens. The dual snappers on the front of the S10+
consist of a 10MP primary Dual Pixel AF (f1.9) paired
with an 8MP FF (f2.2) RGB Depth sensor. The S10 and
S10e keep only the primary lens for selfies. Some
commonalities are the OneUI based on Android 9.
Pie, Exynos 9820 processor having 10nm fabrication
and IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The
stereo speakers and earphones have sound tuned by
AKG which can further be enhanced with Dolby
Atmos. The battery capacity is the maximum for S10+
at 4100mAh, 3400mAh for S10 and 3100 for S10e.

TECH-O-METER

They support fast 15W Type-C wired and wireless
charging along with reverse wireless charging at 9W
aka Wireless PowerShare to juice up other supported
devices. The storage and RAM capacities are as
follows: S10+ (128GB/512GB with 8GB RAM,
1TB/12GB), S10 (128GB/512GB with 8GB RAM) and
