Difficult:
Lydia and
Sam talk
to Samson

Uneasy
meeting:
Marlon shakes
Al’s hand

Amy Walsh says she enjoyed filming the scenes in which
her character Tracy was trapped in the Sharmas’ factory
during the blaze. ‘It was an amazing day,’ she tells us.
‘Everyone was so supportive of me, with so much
screaming and crying to do. I just had to keep in the zone
because otherwise I don’t think I would have been able
to do it. We were all like, “This is going to be insane!”’

N

ow that Samson is home
from the longest school trip
in history, Lydia knows she
and Sam must sit him down and explain
her recently exposed traumatic past –
how she gave birth to a stillborn baby
as teenager Jenny, and then ran away
and changed her name.
Samson’s normally quite a
sympathetic soul, but he’s rocked by
Lydia’s actions, and is particularly
angry at the way she buried her dead
baby in the woods. Can he find a way
to understand her turmoil, and give
her the support she needs?

T

here’s never a dull
moment for Jessie. This
year alone, she’s been
shot, Ellis has been
stabbed, and Billy’s been in bother
with the police. Now, there’s another
crisis to deal with. Following a
meeting about her poor performance
at Hotten Academy (no wonder;
she was never there), she has
resigned from her job.
Could anything else possibly
happen to upset the apple cart?
Well, yes, because, out of the blue,
Ellis’ dad, Al, then turns up.

Unsurprisingly, Jessie feels
humiliated about being unemployed,
and heads to The Woolpack to seek
solace. As she knocks back the
booze, Nicola has a pop at her for
failing to spot that the school had
a paedophile in its ranks in Maya.
Backed into a corner, Jessie delivers
some home truths about the
children of the village, prompting
Marlon to escort her outside. She
then blames the horrified chef for
her outburst. As they head home
with Billy and Ellis, the group are
being watched from afar...

The following day, Ellis goes to
meet a man who’s interested in
his personal training services, and
is stunned when he claps eyes on
the potential client. Later, at April’s
birthday party, he’s about to tell
Jessie about his encounter when a
car horn sounds. Outside, the same
man steps out from the vehicle, and
Jessie tells a stunned Marlon that
he’s Al – Ellis’ father.
‘Al has been abroad for a year on
business,’ explains Michael Wildman,
who plays him. ‘And he thinks he
can just pick up where he left off.’
What does Al want? And will
Marlon find him a threat?

As the Maaliks celebrate Eid,
Leah and Lucas slip out from next
door to join the festivities. Ste’s
raging and, as he drags the pair
away, Jonny and Stuart intimidate
their kindly neighbours. Leah’s
livid, and when she tells Ste that
she wishes Sami was her dad,
Jonny and Stuart use this to
convince Ste to join their plan
to give Sami a scare.
Later, Sami is attacked with
pepper spray by a hooded
figure, prompting the police
to grill Ste and co about their
whereabouts at the time of the
crime. As Ste confronts Stuart
about the incident, he’s shocked
when his racist ‘friend’ blames
him for making the order for
action. Will he finally start to
realise that he’s being used?

Over at The Dog, meanwhile,
Mercedes enjoys a session with
Liam while hubby Sylver is away
with Bobby. But as the pair cosy
up, Nana finds Liam’s leopard-
print undies on the floor
outside, and also hears talking
in the bedroom. Mercy covers,
and lies that the pants were a
gift for Sylver, but just when it
seems her secret is safe, Breda
overhears her on the phone to
Liam, admitting an affair. As
Breda’s wedding day to Jack
later arrives, the killer granny
has more on her mind than
her vows, and confronts her
daughter-in-law. Can Mercy
find a way to cover her back?
* Doctors is taking a Summer
break and will be back on
screens on 2 September.
