The Vietnam

War
● DOCUMENTARY /
from 10.30pm / BBC4
With another of his epic
series (this time on
country music) ready in
the wings, here’s a welcome
repeat of Ken Burns’ 10-
part history. Episode one
goes back to 1858 to cover
the conflict’s origins, while
episode two picks up in
living memory as President
Kennedy tries to ‘win’ in
Vietnam by waging ‘limited
warfare’. We all know how
that worked out. ★★★★ SM

Casualty
● DRAMA / 8.40pm / BBC1
In this feature-length episode of the
medical drama, Connie (Amanda
Mealing) and Ciaran’s sizzling stand-off
reaches a climax. With Hanssen breathing
down her neck and demanding an official
inquiry into prescriptions, it looks like Mrs
B’s luck is about to run out. She’s got one
last move to make, though, which could
change everything. Is it wrong that,

despite everything she’s done, TV Times
find ourselves on Team Connie? Elsewhere,
there’s a new paramedic in town but is she
up to the job? And Will and Robyn get
protective when Duffy looks vulnerable,
Gem is miserably trying to please everyone
and there’s a life-threatening shock for a
member of staff. ★★★★★ EB

Egypt’s Sun King
● DOCUMENTARY / 8pm / National Geographic

NEW

Just when it seemed as if the
golden age of exploration
was over in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings,
archaeologists have discovered the
first tomb to contain a body since
Tutankhamun in 1 9 22. More surprisingly,
the tomb next door contains not just one
body but what appears at first glance to be

mummified remains of 30 people at the
very least. Who are they and why are
they all buried together? This one-off
documentary is part of a Nat Geo day on
a ‘tomb and treasure’ theme. C 4 also has
repeats of Secrets of Egypt’s Valley of the
Kings (7pm) and Egypt’s Great Pyramid:
Uncovered (8pm). ★★★ SM

Big Hero 6
● FILM / 2pm / BBC1
An excellent attempt by Disney to replicate by CGI the
look and feel of Japanese anime, about 1 4 -year-old Hiro
teaming up with an inflatable robot called Baymax. It
plays out like a superhero origin story, and has a
toughness (and darker side) that balances the sweeter
elements, combined with a clever visual palette mixing
Eastern and Western styles of animation in a fresh way.
The all-action finale goes on a little too long, but for the
majority of its running time, this is terrific fun. ★★★★ NP
