Priming: With all the different materials used, it is important to apply a good
priming coat. The author used a primer from AK Interactive in the typical
German red primer coat. Once the primer was dry, a layer of 'Chipping Fluid'
was applied in order to create chipping effects at a later stage

“In 1945 Skoda Werke, as part of the Hermann
Göring Werke, were ordered to develop a bigger
version of the Schmalturm so it could accept a bigger
main gun, such as the Kwk 10.5cm L/68. Just like
the French steelworks, Skoda had the capacity to
cast big parts, through their experience with big
locomotive parts. Shifting production to Skoda would
relieve part of the burden on the rolled steel industry
in Germany right at the time the E-50, E-75 and
E-100 entered production. Skoda could handle the
whole process internally and did not require highly
skilled workers for the production process. The new
turret was more heavily armoured and had an
internal infra-red viewing device. The commander’s
cupola included a rotating observation periscope.”

The kit comes with a metal barrel and antenna
by RB Model, two types of cupola, two types of
observation periscopes. I installed loops of copper
wire on the turret sides where camouflaging
material would be fixed, as can be seen on late
Panther Gs.
Other than that, I didn't make any major
changes to this turret, which was a design with an
obvious resemblance to modern tanks developed
in the 1960s and '70s. In respect of armour,
mobility and firepower the Panther tank actually
was the foundation of the basic concept of the
Leopard-series indeed. So again, it’s not entirely
fictional after all.
