and can damage the electronic module in the

E-Fire. This was the case with our motor, soour

capand leads were fully removed and new leads

made up and installed afterwards.

Next, disconnect the vacuum line if fitted; it

won’tbeneeded with the E-Fire, and if necessary

plug the hole in the intake.Take note of the rotor

armposition before removing the distributor

from the motor, thenremove the bolts, securing

the distributor to the front cover, and cl eanoff

any gasket material.

Checking the position of the offset slot in the

end of the cam once again, and with the cap

removed, carefully turn the E-Fire’soffset drive

key to match. Offer the distributor up, making

sure to seat the distributor and align the offset

key with the cam. Incidentally, the keyiso ffset

to prevent the distributor being accidentally

fitted 180 degrees out, which would obviously

cause problems. Do not force the distributor; if

necessarycheck alignment before installing and

the black wire to the negative side, making sure
they are routed away from the fan belt and so on
–effectively it wasacaseofj ob done.
Note that the wiring is slightly different for a
six-volt positive ground E-Fire installation; consult
the Stromberg owner’smanua lory our dealer
for details. To finish, reconnect the battery, start
your engine and check all operations, then take it
for atest drive.
It should be noted that all E-Fire distributors
arefactory pre-set to match original equipment
timing settings. However,you willnote that
there isastati ctiming adjustment viaascrew
and sliding plate on the body of the E-Fire for
additional fine-tuning due to possible differences
in fuel quality for non-standard or racing
applic ations.Having driven our truck several
hundred miles since installation, we can report
easy starting, and reliable running straight out
of the box, plus we’ve eliminated that difficult
lack of access should there have been an ignition
problem with the stock distributor.★

Avoid over-tightening and check the E-Fire is
sitting flat against the front cover.
With the E-Fire in place, replace the plug leads
in the correct firing order and re-attach theLT
