George was born in Red
Deer, Alta., on October 16,


  1. He qualified for
    operations as an air force
    navigator and bombardier in

  2. He flew in 31 opera-
    tions with the 408 Tactical
    Helicopter Squadron.


One night in London,
during the Blitz bombings,
George was hit by a piece
of shrapnel and decided
to keep the token.
After his service, he
returned to Red Deer and
found a passion for agricul-
tural history, working at the
Sunnybrook Farm Museum.
George passed away on
November 20, 2016.
