HISTORY REVISITED

IN CELEBRATION

Since The Hour Glass opened its fi rst boutique in 1979,
it has been working towards deepening the horological
knowledge of the masses, not least its clientele. To
celebrate its 40th anniversary, the luxury watch retailer
will organise an exhibition at Malmaison in November,
showcasing objets d’art that reveal people’s relationship
with time. Big-name artists such as Daniel Arsham
and Marc Newson have been commissioned for these
projects after a selection process by a committee
made up of architect David Adjaye, watch specialist
Aurel Bacs and Michael Tay, group managing director of
The Hour Glass. At the exhibition will be a selection of
special-edition watches by its long-term partners such
as Audemars Piguet, MB&F, and Ulysse Nardin.

Tiffany & Co will stage Vision & Virtuosity,
its largest exhibition ever from
September 23 to November 10 at the
Fosun Foundation Shanghai. Its title also
pays tribute to two values close to the heart
of the brand. The event will feature 350
artefacts, ranging from the French Crown
Jewels to the iconic Tiffany Diamond as well
as over 100 objects shown to the public for
the fi rst time.

DISPLAY

WITH PRIDE

This year, Montblanc is looking back on its own history with the
development of the Heritage collection. Paying tribute to the traditions
that fi rst established its Minerva manufacture as a purveyor of exceptional
timepieces, the German luxury giant is bringing vintage aesthetics to the
forefront. The results are subtle yet innovative, comprising six 1940s- and
’50s-inspired models. Take the Heritage GMT, Heritage Perpetual Calendar
and Heritage Pulsograph Limited Edition, for instance. Their designs are
faithful to the look of the old Minerva creations but equipped with new
movements, many of which push modern watchmaking limits.

In 1810, Breguet produced
the Reine de Naples, its
fi rst wristwatch ever. It
was a commission from
Caroline Murat, the Queen of
Naples. This year, a new
version of the Reine de Naples
was released, featuring a dial
with a clou de Paris guilloche
pattern and iconic blued
Breguet hands. A total of 117
brilliant-cut diamonds surround
the white-gold bezel and the dial
fl ange, while the folding buckle
is illuminated by 26 diamonds.
