I WANT

A

s I was leaving the Stella McCartney show in Paris, I ran into

Saks president Marc Metrick (see my story on Saks’s jewelry

revolution on page 85). We asked each other the customary Fash-

ion Week questions: “When did you arrive?” “Where are you staying?”

“What did you like?” I rattled off some favorites before I gave him my

conclusion: One of the best things about the fall 2019 collections was

that they made me really want to shop. I wanted the Celine capes and

boots, the Hermès cashmere, the black Balenciaga blazer, the Givenchy

florals, the Loewe pearl shirt. You will spot several of the objects of my

desire in this issue, and, luckily for all of us, we have the T&C fashion

team out there, always

on the lookout for more.
