The day an issue of BRITAIN magazine
arrives in our mail, it immediately becomes
top priority reading. As an anglophile,
and having followed my lineage in the UK
back to the mid-1600s, I love everything
British (or almost everything!) But what’s
more, my father, who passed away at the age
of 92 last October, subscribed to BRITAIN
magazine for many years, and I used to
read the issues myself with great pleasure.
As a member of the Royal Oak
Foundation (National Trust UK), I have had
the privilege of visiting many NT properties
over the past several years, and will probably
continue to do so. But I am also continuing
my father’s subscription to this great
magazine, which often highlights many
of the NT properties, much to my delight.

BRITAIN replies: Well spotted, Brian.

We did, of course, mean “cannons”!

of the walls, and the whole is surrounded
by a moat. My husband and I spent a
wonderful week there with our son,
daughter-in-law and granddaughter from
Victoria, Canada, when we were attending
a family reunion in the Quantocks.
We love receiving your magazine, as
it brings back memories of some of the
wonderful places we have visited.

Itravelled to Grasmere with
your September 2018 edition
[Vol 86 Issue 4]. I stayed at
The Swan (where I had a lovely
breakfast) and took the bus
to Rydal Mount. It was one
of the most memorable days
I can remember. Thank you!
