Holy Trinity Church
Founded in the 12th century and first recorded
in 1113, it is one of the largest medieval churches
in England. Home to the famous Doom
painting of the Last Judgement, that was only
recently rediscovered after hundreds of years.
This extraordinary building has survived fire,
reformation and the Blitz.

St Mary’s Guildhall
St Mary’s Guildhall is one of the finest surviving
examples of a medieval guildhall in the UK.
First built in the 1340s for the merchant guild of
St. Mary, royalty has frequently been entertained
here, whilst Mary Queen of Scots was briefly captive
here in 1569. It is almost certain that Shakespeare
would have performed in the Great Hall on the
occasions that his touring companies visited
Coventry. Inside gives an insight to Coventry’s
past with collections of early arms and armour,
furniture and artworks. The main attraction is the
Great Hall with its medieval stained glass, a ceiling
of carved angels and, dominating an entire wall is
one of the rarest and most important tapestries in
the country. At 500 years old and hanging on the
wall that it was originally designed for, it is said
that the tapestry contains one of the very few true
likenesses of King Richard III.
