Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Covering
370 square miles, the protected landscape here
is stunning, with intertwining creeks and river
valleys, rocky cliffs and sandy beaches, farmland and
woodland. Highlights of the area include St Mawes
Castle, Portscatho Beach, St Anthony’s Lighthouse,
the 13th-century parish church of St Just-in-Roseland
and the romantic Lost Gardens of Heligan.

Victoria Gardens This beautiful garden in
the heart of the city centre is an unexpected
treasure. Opened in 1897 to commemorate
Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, the gardens
are a peaceful haven lled with exotic trees, shrubs
and owers. Concerts are held on the bandstand
on Sunday afternoons during the summer. Other
green spaces worth visiting in Truro include
Poppy Cottage Garden and Boscawen Park.

Lemon Street Take a wander down Lemon Street, which
is lined with splendid Georgian houses. If you’re in the
mood for shopping, stop at Lemon Street Market, an
indoor shopper’s paradise lled with independent stores.

Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm This family-run
farm has been going for more than 30 years
and has won awards for its cider. You can
take a tour of the press house, jam factory, museum,
distillery and cellars, and even climb a cider vat
to enjoy a view of the modern cider-production
halls. Afterwards, tuck into lunch at The Old
Bottlery or indulge in a Cornish cream tea.
