Ulster Tatler talks to Sharon Gillespie,

Accountant and MD of Gillespie Accountants

Ltd, about her role and what she likes most

about working in Mallusk.

Descibe a typical working day for you. The
most interesting part of this job is that there is no ‘typical’ day. One
day I can be busy preparing accounts and tax returns, the next day
I may be engaging in practise development activities, and another
day I can be assisting clients with their own business issues and
challenges. Nowadays being an accountant is so much more than
just “number crunching” and as we move into the Making Tax Digital
(MTD) era, there are exciting, if somewhat challenging, times ahead.
As Oscar Wilde said “...expect the unexpected...”

Where do you like to dine in the local area?
Knags restaurant would be a firm favourite in the area, and
Corrs Corner Hotel is great as well as an array of superb
takeaways in the area.

How do you like to relax in your spare time?
I love to relax by going for a spa day for a lovely massage and facial,
or a walk on a nice evening out in the country with the dogs. We have
two boxer dogs.

What do you enjoy most about working in the Glengormley/
Mallusk area?
We relocated to Mallusk Enterprise Park in 2018, and the
commute is much more convenient as it is just off the motorway and
other main arterial routes. Everything to do with shopping and food
is right on the doorstep and our neighbours in Mallusk Enterprise
Park are all fab.
