why i love

glengormley

Ulster Tatler talks to Janine
McCoppian of Janine HD
Brows about why she loves
Glengormley.

Describe a typical
working day for you.
A typical working day in my
salon consists of working
with clients from all age
groups, building rapport
and lasting relationships
with them to help achieve
their brow goals. I always
try to keep up with the latest brow trends and constantly go
on new courses to ensure I’m offering my clients the brows
they have dreamed of. My days are always busy but I love
every minute and am fortunate for the client base I have built
up.

What do you like most about Glengormley?
Glengormley is a really up and coming area for businesses of
all types. I have clients from all over the greater Belfast area
so it’s easily accessible from anywhere just off the motorway.

Where do you like to dine/socialise in the local area?
A local restaurant/deli I often go to is Jenz / The Corner
House. They offer a wide range of healthy meals and snacks.
It is my go to when I am busy in work. At weekends I enjoy
eating and socialising in The Cottonmount Arms in Mallisk.
Their pub grub is amazing and the bar has a great friendly
atmosphere.

keeping it local

Ulster Tatler talks to Emma Garrett, CEO of Mallusk
Enterprise Park.

Describe a typical working day for you?
I am responsible for managing Mallusk Enterprise
Park (MEP) which comprises 50,000 sq ft of “lettable”
workspace (office and industrial.) We have 60 tenant businesses on-site
which range from an employment lawyer to a Gin and Vodka Distillery. I
also lead a fantastic team of Business Advisers who deliver support to
aspiring entrepreneurs and business owners throughout the Antrim and
Newtownabbey Council area through bespoke mentoring, all of which are
free of charge. No two days are the same. In one typical working day I could
be liaising between the Parks’ solicitor and a new tenant to agree lease terms,
meeting with our architect to develop our new co-working space, and having
a meeting with my senior management team to develop new programmes
and initiatives which will make a difference in the local community.

Does Mallusk / Glengormley have any hidden gems?
I’d say the hidden gem is Mossley Mill (many people only know this as the
Antrim and Newtownabbey Council Headquarters) but there is much more to
this location. It actually comprises a theatre, gallery, coffee shop and museum.
Additionally, it has beautiful views of Mossley Dam, countryside views and
provides access to walk and cycle trails which lead to Loughshore.

Where do you like to socialise and dine in the local area?
I would have to say Knags Bar and Grill & Deli in Glengormley would be
my first choice for dining out. Recently they have become stockists of Belfast
Artisan Distillery Gin which is produced within our Enterprise Park. We also
use their outside catering service for our events in Mallusk Enterprise Park as
quality and service are second to none. Corrs Corner Hotel is an excellent
spot to meet business associates or friends for a coffee. Their Grill Bar also
serves fantastic food at reasonable prices. Bothy Coffee Shop in Mallusk is
always buzzing with an eclectic mix of mums, babies and business people!

Beautiful countryside setting just ten minutes from Belfast and
surrounding towns. Modern Irish food, passionately created using
only the finest local seasonal produce. Join us for some of North-
ern Ireland’s best craft beers and handcrafted drinks and liquors in
our loft bar or beautiful beer garden.
