74Speaking after The Northern Ireland Hair & Beauty Awards,
Sunniva Tanning Salon proprietor Linda Wilson, said: “Starting
my little business in May 2016, I saw an opening for a sunbed
salon in the town. After researching and having meetings with
Joe from Bronze Direct, as well as training with them, I decided
I would give it a go. The support I received from my family and
the team at Bronze really gave me the confidence to try. I have
two sunbeds in my salon but later that year I decided to train
with Kathleen from the Bronze team and do professional spray
tanning as well. It was at that point I found my passion, which
I take great pride in. I use Insanity Tan as it is such a natural tan
and suits all skin types. I also have a nail technician, Natalie,
who hires her space and does gel polish and acrylics.
“I was so privileged to have been nominated for the Awards
and I have to thank my sister Shauna who started the campaign.
“The response from my clients left me feeling like a winner
before I made the trip to Belfast. It was a nerve-wracking
experience sitting with a lot of elite salons in the business, and
coming from a small town and competing with city salons. I
had family and friends with me for support. I never believed I
stood a chance, but I am delighted to have won. Clients come
from near and far, and put their trust in me to tan them for
their upcoming special event; I have got to spray people for all
occasions and love the response from them the next day when
I text to make sure they are 100% satisfied with their tans. It’s all
part of the customer service I supply and what has got me to
