An American classic makes its way to the Philippines, a Boracay resort offers fun for the
whole family, and a social enterprise plays up both sustainability and empowerment
DrIvINg a ClassIC
Chevrolet
It’s a car that has stirred the imaginations of filmmakers, authors, and
even songwriters like the late Prince who immortalised it in the song “Little
Red Corvette.” That said, local automobile enthusiasts will be thrilled to
know that this American icon is finally available in the country.
The Corvette Stingray, in particular, has been reinvented for the 21st
century. Originally created in 1953, the updated version of this classic
American sports car features an all-aluminium 6.2L V8 engine that
produces 455 hp and 621 Nm of torque. Its safety features include high-
performance Brembo brakes, a magnetic ride control system, as well as
an anti-lock braking system with panic brake assist and traction control.
It also cuts quite a dash in the style department, as it is furnished
with competition-grade sports-seats and has a long dash-to-axle
proportion that gives it a strong and powerful look. As stylish then as it
is now, the new-era Chevrolet Corvette is a car that is ready to make a
statement on the road.
