GoodHomes India – August 2019

(Tina Sui) #1

BEHINDTHESCENES

Seema Sreedharan
Editor

My tryst with the magazine began when it was just a concept note.
I’ve worked with two incredible editors and an exceptionally motivated
team to build this brand. Now, a decade and 132 issues later, here I am,
taking over as the Editor of GoodHomes. The feeling is surreal, a bit like
standing over the edge preparing for a free fall.... I know it will be one
exhilarating ride.

I strongly believe in one thing — an editor is only as good as her team.
Shalaka with her keen eye for design, Avril with her zeal for fi nding
stories in the most mundane things and the wordsmith Tina, with her
wry sense of humour and almost annoying penchant for perfection —
are my pillars. Together we will continue the legacy of the brand, or
should I say reinvent the brand? You’ll know soon enough.

Well, more about this issue now. As we head into the festive season,
it’s just about the right time to hit the refresh button. If you thought
refurbishing was a task, refer to Swarupa’s exhaustive arsenal of ideas
for a spanking new home. I personally love Kamakshee’s take on
refurbishing — fi nding beauty in imperfection to infuse character into
your home. In a fi rst of it sorts, our cover feature in collaboration with
Nerolac takes its cue from simple, everyday elements to create stunning
looks for your home.

But what had us squealing with excitement was the prospect of bringing
to you the surprisingly petite home of architecture legend Aldo Cibic —
a fascinating exercise in small space design.

Like always, it’s a power-packed issue.

And write to me — brickbats, compliments, suggestions — are all
welcome. Until next issue...
