Marnanie, in 2017, after a tip-off about its sale
from a family friend who had lived here from the
1970s until 2001.
“We inspected it on a freezing cold August day,”
says Charlotte. “It was raining and the kids were
screaming.” But both Charlotte and Geordie felt
a calm conviction that the two-storey, ve-
bedroom weatherboard home surrounded by
towering old trees was the place to make their
family home. “We both grew up in the country, so
it was something we really wanted for our
daughters,” says Charlotte.
Marnanie was built in 1890 and sits on 6.8
hectares that include a spring-fed creek and
beautiful native and exotic trees, including oaks,
lindens, redwoods and maples. It’s a magical
setting for older siblings Sybil and Francesca to
explore, and forms a leafy outlook that can be
enjoyed from every room of the house.
