ILLUMINATING ANTIDOTE

REAL-GOOD RURAL READ

INSTAGRAM & (^) Win!
Being a city girl through and through, I
found ‘Outdoor Pursuit’ in your August
issue a very intriguing article. Although I’m
not sure if I can picture myself in gumboots
on a daily basis, I do love the idea of living
off the land (at least partly) and having a
slower pace of life. Battling the Auckland
commute day in and day out does leave a
fair bit to be desired, and the families in
your story genuinely sound so content with
swapping it for a country lifestyle. It’s great
to read about people taking a chance and
loving life, so I may give it a few more years,
then see if the country calls
my name too.
As a long-time NEXT reader, I’m always impressed by how it manages to stay so balanced. I can rely
on every issue to include something for everyone, and introduce topics and ideas that I haven’t come
across before. As well as featuring some really lovely stories, your August issue had great advice on
getting past heartbreak, and I ended up lending it to a friend of mine who really needed it at the
time. What better cure than having a read with a cup of tea and a best mate? Thanks
from both my friend and me – we’re already looking forward to next month.
