THE SCULPTOR... At 44, Auckland business owner
Shona Lyon had a career-changing epiphany while visiting
Chartres Cathedral in France. Marvelling at the beautiful
sculptures around her, she realised what she really wanted to be was
a sculptor. Twelve years on, the woman who was once told by her high
school art teacher that her work wasn’t “up to scratch”, has unveiled
her newest bronze collection, entitled Nostalgia, 12.5% of the
proceeds of which will help to improve the life of children

THE FILM... When Donna Tartt’s
Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The
G o l d  n c h was released in 2013,
it divided literary critics.
Nevertheless, it has made
it to the big screen as a  lm
starring Nicole Kidman,
Ansel Elgort and Luke
Wilson. It follows a boy called
Theo Decker, who’s taken in by a wealthy New York
family after his mother is killed in a bombing at the
Metropolitan Museum of Art. During the terrorist attack, the dazed
13-year-old spirits out of the wreckage a famous painting called The
G o l d  n c h, a decision that will have repercussions for the majority of
his life. In cinemas from September 26.
