Green Point Urban Park
Is there anything better than a fresh, early-
morning walk through the park with the
salty smell of the sea in the air? Green Point
is a peaceful oasis situated in one of Cape
Town’s busiest neighbourhoods, where you
can either take a relaxing, tranquil meander
through the lush greenery and stop to smell
the flowers, or get you and your dog’s blood
pumping with a jog along the pathways.
The views are spectacular – you’ll see
Lion’s Head looking out over the city and the
stunning Green Point Stadium. You and your
pooch can also stop at the still, serene lakes
and watch the ducks glide by, to the sounds
of seagulls chattering at the watermill.
You’re also welcome to lay out a picnic
and relax with the family and fur-kids after
your walk, so why not make a day of it!? The
kids will love the stunning play areas, while
you can kick back with a cold, refreshing
drink. Dogs are only prohibited from entering
the Biodiversity Garden, but are free to walk
anywhere else in the park, as long as they’re
on leash.
The park is open every day from 7am-
7pm and entrance is free.

Walkhaven Dog Park
Situated in Muldersdrift, near Johannesburg, this dogs’ paradise offers
22ha of land and two large dams, perfect for all their running, sniffing
and swimming needs. The park’s designed to ensure maximum fun
for four-legged friends, with all areas open for canine exploration
and adventure, including the popular restaurant, The Dog Box Grill.
It serves hearty breakfasts and lunches, including wraps, pizzas, ribs
and steaks, and provides shady spots for pooches to relax and lap up a
bowl of refreshing water in between play.
After a long walk through the rolling grassland and a dip for the
dogs in the water (no humans are permitted to swim), gather up the
troops and make use of one of the many braai or picnic areas in the
park. Well-behaved dogs are allowed to be off leash, so your fur-kids
will be happy to roam around nearby, or relax at your side while you
and the family enjoy snacks after robust exercise (remember to pack
their favourite treats too!). They’re also sure to meet lots of other dogs
visiting the park and will have a great time socialising and sniffing out
new friends.
Walkhaven Dog Park is open seven days a week from 7am-6.30pm.
Day visitor fees are R40 per adult and R25 per child or pensioner.
