MUNSTER
This Spanish label continues to improve, having an eclectic
mix of albums on offer including the fascinating English R&B
outfit, The Tomcats (who would become the psychedelic outfit
July), and who found early success in Spain. Taking tracks from
1964-1966, this high energy double album features EP tracks
and demos.
One for Zappa fans, this unreleased late-60s LP of
sessions from Geronimo Black features ex-Mothers Jimmy
Carl Black, Bunk Gardner, Ray Collins and Denny Walley, plus
lots of additional talent. ‘Freak Out Phantasia’ includes a CD
with four bonus tracks, while the album is packed with hard
prog/fusion wonders. A gem of a release.
Cult singer-songwriter, Jonathan Richman’s ‘SA!’ extends
the strange but charming man’s boundaries in this 2018
license from Blue Arrow. Produced by his former Modern
Lovers bandmate Jerry Harrison, it examines the Indian raga
to delightful effect.
Also look out for Robert y su Banda’s ‘Soy La Ley’ (1978)

  • a rare salsa cut featuring the original version of Joe Arroyo’s
    hit ‘Rebelión’.
Los Revolucionarios’ self-titled album (1972) featuring
hard and hot salsa via Alfredo Gutiérrez.
Also Pau Riba’s rare psyche folk-rock 1969/1970 release,
‘Dioptria’ accompanied by the band, Om. Originally two
separate LPs, now a double album (which was the original
    intention).

DEMON
A typical varied batch from this UK audiophile outfit includes Young-Holt
Unlimited’s ‘Soulful Strut’ (1968) – although this jazz outing is basically instru-
mental versions of Barbra Acklin tracks.
William DeVaughn with ‘Be Thankful for What You Got’ (1974) scored a
massive title-track R&B/soul hit that summer. A cool, rolling groove, DeVaughn
offers a smooth, easy vocal.
Look out for the Sainsbury’s exclusive version of T.Rex’s Gold with two,
gold vinyl discs included.
Also offering ‘Gold’ is the Average White Band, on gold vinyl discs spanning
twenty tracks.
’Rock Around The Clock’ spans two discs and thirty tracks and includes
Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran and more.
‘90s Dance Anthems’ is a 2LP compilation of likely suspects including Fatboy
Slim, Ultra Nate and Robert Miles spouting classic dance tracks.
