(vip2019) #1
RV for game day? We get it. Here are two smaller
tools to step up your tailgating in 2019.

A COOLER COOLER

Keep things simple with an all-in-one container that
chills your drinks, charges your phone and blasts your
tunes. With a battery that lasts up to
16 hours, the Koolmax cooler’s audio
system & power station
($359.99) has built-in
speakers that are water-
resistant and remote-
controlled, with every type
of input you could need—
including one for a guitar
cable, if you want to shred
on your school’s fight song.

CRADLE OF

LUXURY

Take your lounging
game to the next level
with these suspended
chairs. The Hammaka
trailer hitch stand
and cradle chairs
combo ($211) comes
in four colors and
features detachable
armrests, as well as a footrest. The stand is made of
powder-coated steel, and each arm can support up to
250 pounds. It comes in three pieces for easy assembly
and can be attached to any standard, two-inch hitch
receiver. Perfect for a pregame nap or for an extended
postgame celebration. —Torrey Hart

BEST (UNDER-THE-RADAR DIVISION):

Ohio State’s signing of sophomore quarterback
Justin Fields (who came to Georgia as the nation’s
top dual-threat quarterback) grabbed the headlines,
but just as significant is the Buckeyes’ pickup
of 6' 4", 305-pound senior offensive lineman
Jonah Jackson (from Rutgers). Ohio State lost
most of its offensive line depth, and what’s
the point of having an elite quarterback if
you can’t keep him on his feet?

WORST DECLARATION OF

INDEPENDENCE:

UConn’s move to the Big East, from the
American Athletic Conference, is great
for the Huskies’ basketball program.
For the football team, not so much.

UConn went 1–11 in 2018, and now they’re heading to
a league that doesn’t sponsor football, making them
one of seven independents in 2020. Coach Randy
Edsall (below) will have an even tougher time on the
recruiting circuit.

ODDEST FLIP-FLOP

(NON–MANNY DIAZ DIVISION):

Freshman wide receiver Bru McCoy, an early enrollee
at USC last January, transferred from the Trojans
to Texas later that month—and then switched
back to Southern California again in June. In
so doing, the five-star recruit, who could
have been a key offensive weapon right
away, lost his eligibility for 2019. (McCoy
has applied for an NCA A waiver that would
restore his eligibility.)
