Coldplay and Ms. Paltrow’s ex-hus-
band, bought the second, across
the street, for $6.75 million in 2014
following their separation, though
he has since sold it, according to
people familiar with the sale.
Ms. Paltrow met Ms. Smith after
spotting her first home in a maga-
zine, and hosted a party to launch
Ms. Smith’s interior-design book in

trow has toured the new
home but won’t pur-
chase this one. “She’s
been to the house
several times but
she’s not allowed to
buy it,” Ms. Smith
joked. “I said no.”
Ms. Paltrow didn’t
respond to a request
for comment.
Ms. Smith bought the
site for about $7.3 million in
2015, records show, and spent mil-
lions replacing an existing home
with this new house. She part-
nered with Holly Gores, wife of De-
troit Pistons owner Tom Gores, on
the kitchen and a banquette-style
seating area in a lounge room
with a bar.

Smith said she de-
signed the home for
“nomadic global families”
who have multiple homes around
the world. This house, for example,
has two kitchens: a larger family
kitchen and a professional-grade
one where a chef could do more

A Los Angeles developer who
has sold recent projects to Gwyneth
Paltrow and Chris Martin is listing
a newly built spec house for
$33 million.
Windsor Smith, an interior de-
signer and developer, said she
spent four years building the Neo-
classical-style, white-brick home.
In the Brent-
wood neighbor-
hood, the prop-
erty spans about
13,000 square
feet and includes
a main house
with six bed-
rooms and a
separate guest
pavilion with a sauna.
Ms. Smith worked for about a
decade as an interior designer be-
fore trying her hand at spec devel-
opment in the late 2000s. Ms. Pal-
trow, the actress and Goop
founder, bought Ms. Smith’s first
home, in Brentwood, for around
$10 million in 2012, records show.
