“showrunner” also makes

verb “scale up” means to

“make something larger”

or to “increase according

to a fixed ratio”. As a noun,

this term is common in the

tech industry. It refers to a

business, often a start-up,

that is expanding: “Profes-

sor Haslam’s new course is

called ‘Scale-up is the new

start-up’.”
