A

GUEST PRESENTER FRED SIRIEIX WITH SELMA DAY AT THIS YEAR’S COMMUNITY AWARDS

ugust is always an interesting month when
local businesses take a break and the area welcomes in the
traditional inf lux of summer visitors who come and spend
their valuable cash in our shops, restaurants, bars, hotels
and theatres.
Whether it be spring, summer, autumn or winter, the
West End has a constantly revolving cast of people - not
just those who visit for business or leisure - but people
who have homes in the area and spend much of the year
here with us. The thing we all have in common is how
blessed we are to benefit from the entire package that
makes up Mayfair, St James’s and Marylebone. That’s
shops, hotels, restaurants, bars and all the places
where we experience the best of the best.
The one quality that all these places share
is amazing service. So it’s no surprise that one of the
key activities in our year here at Mayfair Times is our
Community Awards of Mayfair and St James’s, which
celebrates the people and organisations that provide those
five-star services.
Yes, we give away gongs and have a terrific knees-up
in January, but that isn’t the main attraction - it’s the
process of receiving your nominations for those deserving
recognition and from being able to share that information
with our readers. That activity is the key to what we
do – and it starts this issue on page 46. So, if you know
someone you feel deserves to be recognised please let us
know either by emailing [email protected]
or visiting mayfairtimes.co.uk/awards

Talking of community, for our second
Mayfair & St James’s Literary Festival (October
28-November 3), we have included the pupils of St
George’s Hanover Square who will take part in a poetry-
writing competition. The winning entries will have their
work displayed at a Mayfair venue during the festival and
published in Mayfair Times.
Don’t forget to check out all the fabulous events
taking place across the area by visiting our website,
