T

HE most exciting forestry event of the year is
just a few weeks away – and it’s shaping up to
be a truly unmissable occasion.
Forestry Expo Scotland 2019 is a unique
harvesting demonstration and trade event brought
to you jointly by Forestry Journal; several global machine
manufacturers; and Rural Projects, a noted public event
and trade exhibition organiser.
The world’s premier designers and distributors of
forestry equipment will showcase a remarkable range
of customer solutions at Forestry Expo, coming together
and providing visitors with the rare chance to see the
industry’s finest machines working side by side.
Away from the harvesting site, upwards of 50 exhibitors
will be offering products, services and advice covering
every aspect of modern forestry, ensuring that, whether
you’re an old hand or a complete novice, you will find
something to enhance your business.
For Forestry Journal, the Expo not only gives the new
editorial and commercial team a chance to meet with
readers and advertisers, but offers an opportunity to
celebrate the 25th anniversary in style.
But the stars of the show will undoubtedly be the
incredible machines working to bring down 10,000 cubic
metres of timber.
As preparations for the event enter their final stages,
we can finally reveal exactly what models will be seen in
action.

JOHN DEERE
With the needs of the industry becoming ever more
diverse, John Deere will be showcasing a range of
harvesting solutions not only for conventional harvesting
sites but also specialist solutions for both steep-ground
harvesting and equipment that can be used in sensitive
areas.
As an added bonus, customers will also be able to
try the innovative Intelligent Boom Control on both a
harvester and a forwarder.
The Expo will be the first live event for the versatile
1170G 8WD harvester, introduced just over a year ago,
which offers a tremendous balance between production
and a light footprint for sensitive areas.

John Deere will also showcase “the world’s favourite
harvester”, the 1270G 8WD, which was largely designed
and tested in the UK, as well as the ever-popular 1470G,
which offers incredible performance in large timber.
Extracting the timber will be the renowned 1110G
forwarder, which offers flexibility over both thinnings and
clearfell operations, while the 1510G workhorse and the
gargantuan 1910G will also provide entertainment over the
two days.
All of the working models will also be on static display
to offer customers the chance to get up close and personal
with the equipment. Taking specific interest at the static
area will be the new optional Fixed Cabin Forwarder,
which offers customers a more price-sensitive solution
when compared to the industry-leading levelling and
rotating variant.
John Deere will also use the event to introduce steep-
ground solutions with both harvesters and forwarders
equipped with HAAS traction-winch technology.
All of the working machines will be equipped with the
latest TimberMaps software and customers will have the
chance to view site production through the innovative
TimberManager IT software, as well as discuss the latest
in aftersales solutions with the John Deere aftersales team.
