depot,West SomersetRailway,
on June 22.
Fornearlyaquarterofa
centurythis loco, when in the
shed(completed late 1997),
has had Class 35 No.D7018for
company. However, on this day
the‘Hymek’was out‘having a
ball’working passenger trains
(RMJuly,front cover) forthe first

timefollowing itsoverhaul.
Hopefully,the‘Western’will
not have to wait so long before
returningto traffic,with a
targetforcompletion setfor
twoyears.This follows its B-end

transmission failureatBish ops
Lydeardduring lastyear’s June
diesel gala.
It stands withanotice
attached appealingforhelp.
