Weller At 50

Happy Birthday

Weller Wheels recently celebrated their 50th anniversary at the cool
Caffeine and Machine venue near Stratford upon Avon. Andrew
Thompson will be reporting on the event in a later issue, but we
couldn’t let the event go unremarked as they took the opportunity to
release a couple of long-awaited products. Firstly some 20” smoothie
steels for the T5 and T6, load rated at 820kgs, in 8.5 and a whopping
10J, these beauties are available at £449.99 a corner. Next are the 17” T
steels, load-rated at 900kgs, in both 8.5 and 9J and on sale at £199.
each. They are both welcome and very cool additions to the extensive
Weller range and carry the tag “Built Not Banded”. Swampers might
like to check out their stunning 17” bead lock steels as well. If you want
to know more about Weller’s range visit http://www.wellerwheels.com.

T17 Update

Leader Board Changes
Following the GTI Springfest there have been a few changes to the T
leader board. A reasonable turn out saw four vans running! With a
few more in attendance for a chat and to cheer on the participants. The
upshot is they have two new Transporters that have achieved a sub
17 second pass on the drag strip required to gain the coveted official
membership of T17. A new T6 belonging to Michael Dunn ran a
16.0697 putting him into 12th position. Regular readers will be familiar
with Michael’s bus as we ran a small feature on the upgrades that he
has done to his bus recently. The second new comer to the listing is
Martin Turner who ran an astonishing 15.2758 in his 2.5 diesel T5 his

time has put him into 6th position. Adrian ‘Mole’ Coomber managed
to take 0.6819 off his time from a few years ago with a 15.8139 run.
Although, due to the new additions, he remains in 9th place. James
Hardacre, the man behind T17, whose van is featured elsewhere in
the magazine also improved shaving a respectable 0.6974 off his time
putting him back into the top ten with 16.0090. Cue sighs of relief in
the Hardacre household... Tom Dean, the man behind Speeding Tube
channel on YouTube, was present though not yet racing. Subscribe
to his YouTube channel to see how he is progressing with the build of
his insane 500+bhp 1.8 T4.

Correction

In issue 86 we ran a ‘How To’ on
fitting Low Pro coil-overs, there was
a small error in the ‘where from’
section. So, to clear up any possible
misunderstandings this is where to
get the Low Pros from:
