that Owen needs it to tackle, all
helped by the higher profile tyres.
A leisure battery resides under the
passenger seat, which has a couple
of USB ports attached to it and an
inverter which allows Owen to
quickly boil a regular kettle, much
quicker than the 12-volt variety when
a cuppa is needed. The lack of kitchen
has been done on purpose, as Owen
generally eats out when travelling or
camping and as previously mentioned
it would only take up living space.
Every area of the van has been
considered and thought about
seriously, everything that has been
done, has been done to improve the
off-road potential and practicality.
There’s been a lot of research and
time taken over each decision to
ensure that everything added to the
van works exactly as it should and
as he’s not seen another one finished
to the same specification, Owen
is happy to call it One of a Kind.

has been replaced with another VW
spec unit, one that includes Apple
CarPlay, Google Maps and Owen’s
navigation app of choice, Waze.

roof bars and body protection.
The 15” alloy wheels are from a
MK5 VW Golf and are wrapped in
some suitably rugged, all terrain
rubber from the General Grabber
company. The AT3 tyres are as
happy on road as they are off it ,
giving exceptional traction and
grip whilst still providing relatively
good ride comfort and refinement.
The suspension has been left as
standard too, as the van fits under
the majority of height restrictions but
