If the road-holding on your VW T6 is getting a bit
sloppy, then the most likely suspect for this problem
is worn suspension bushes - it’s time to check them
out and replace them. Or, maybe you have fitted bigger
wheels and lowered your van and now the suspension
doesn’t sit right? Thanks to modern technology you no
longer have to replace like for like - you can replace the
rubber versions with made-to -measure performance
polyurethane units; they’re better in every respect.
The advantages of polyurethane over original rubber
bushes, are prolonged tyre life, improved handling, and
increased safety due to better braking stability. They will
last much longer than rubber bushes and are up to 25%
stiffer than new rubber items, but with exactly the same
noise absorbing properties. These bushes also come with
a lifetime warranty. There are various sizes to choose from
for the anti-roll bar bushes - so make sure you know before
you order them. Once all the work has been carried out,
it would make good sense to follow it up with a full wheel
alignment to make sure you are getting the best out of your
new bushes. You should allow about four hours to carry
out this job. That allows for stubborn bolts / fighting the
old bushes to remove them and the tracking. Obviously,
you don’t fit new bushes to only one side at a time.
Thanks to Will Chubbs for his skills
and getting his hands dirty.
