Carry On Dubbin

T

he show moved to Manor
Farm in Tattenhall,
Cheshire. The farm is not
only a working one, but
also has a very nice farm
shop very handy for the barbecue.
If you don’t fancy cooking, there is
a coffee shop on site too. The farmer
had cut the grass in the field to
accommodate the vans but even he
couldn’t do anything about the ruts,
you just had to drive really slowly.
The event organisers had done
their best to look after visitors with
mains water supplied showers at the
entrance and a few 1000 litre plastic
water tanks dotted around near to the
Portaloos. Some loos seemed to appear
out of nowhere on Saturday morning,
as the organisers had cleverly waited
until people had arrived on Friday,
to see where they were camping

before strategically placing them.
Held over the late May Bank
Holiday weekend, entertainment
was provided from the Friday
evening right through to the Sunday
night, meaning that the Monday
was free for people to have a gentle
pack up before departing. The
weekend kicked off with DJ Mark
who provided a suitable soundtrack
to the foam party that was going on
outside the marquee, yes, a foam
party at a camping event. Lots of
kids, and a few grown-ups, were only
too keen to get involved and have
fun with the bubbles. Tom Dibb
and his mate Charli Sax, who had
flown in from Europe for the event,
were on hand in his acoustic tent
to serenade revellers into the night.
Tom had even provided a small fire
and some very comfortable coffee

For the 7th running of the Carry On Dubbin event, the show was moved to a new

venue in Cheshire and a very successful move it turned out to be

sack cushions for those who hadn’t
brought their own chairs. Saturday
dawned a changeable day weather
wise, but that didn’t deter visitors who
had sold out the event a few weeks
previously, although the field was so
large it was very easy to find yourself
a quiet spot should you have wished.
Kids entertainment was provided
in the marquee, while from mid-
morning on musical performances
from Paiden Ball and Gaz Heasom
kept the mood upbeat as people had
a good look around the trade stands
and food stalls. In between acts the
incomparable Kenny the Compere
kept things moving along with
competitions and fun that involved a
lot of leg pulling of the audience. Later
on in the day there was a fire show
and the musical act for the evening
was Kick Back, who performed a
myriad of covers in the marquee.
The clubs present included Dubs
in Law, Darkside Dubbers from
Yorkshire, the Liverpool VW Club
and the unusually named Living Daft
VW Club to name but a few. They
were all nicely parked together and
encouraged to take part in the fancy
