TMIC4, which included a custom built,
oversized top mounted intercooler,
built by Mario of M.V. Engineering,
but sadly that turbo died too and took
the engine with it. Another power
plant was required and that’s when
James parted company with the 350Z.
In its place he bought an engine out
of a Volvo V70. The block is made by
Volkswagen and it puts out 170bhp
in standard trim, but of course that
was never going to stay that way
now, was it? Stage 5 is the current
set up and to make sure everything
was doing the job it was intended to
do, James decided he’d do as much
as he could to make the maximum
power. Keeping that intercooler in
place he added a shopping list of
parts that included a Garrett 2260VKturbo, .260 high flow fuel injectors,
an 11mm fuel pump, Rosten valve
springs and titanium retainers,
doweled con rods, an AXG/DQR
gearbox with an oversized 240mm
Sachs race engineered pressure
plate and dual mass flywheel, with
ARP bolts used throughout to
keep everything nice and tight. It
currently sits at 223.8 bhp and puts
out 389.9-foot pounds of torque
at the wheels but has yet to have
a remap with the larger turbo, so
those numbers are sure to increase.
The old furniture set up hit the
bricks some time ago ,with Tamsin
and James preferring a full width
bed acquired from Streamline
Auto Beds in Wolverhampton,
the company trimmed it and thefront seats to match. Now it not only
gives the couple more space, but
room for their rescue dogs, Murphy
and Maddie too. The kitchen pod is
removable for weight reduction when
racing and was made to order by Van
Gear in Brighton. It contains a water
supply and waste bottle as well as
housing a chargeable battery and gas
cylinder, making it fully usable in the
awning when camping. The dash has
been customised with a lower dash
piece for the head unit, a retro fitted
passenger side airbag, custom etched
switches, Golf twin cup holders and
a Golf+ roof console, all finished off
in textured ‘Manhattan Mist’ paint.
The most recent addition has been
the full Hybrid Audio ICE setup that
includes 4-inch speakers in the dash,Bus feature
