CROSS BUN FRENCH-
TOAST STACK WITH
CRISPY BACON
Make the most of your lazy
weekend mornings with this
mouth-watering breakfast!
It’s definitely worth getting
out of bed for
Serves 4 – 6 EASY 30 mins

WHAT YOU NEED
FRENCH TOAST
3 SPAR eggs
25 0ml (1 cup) SPAR Long
Life Cream

pinch salt
2 tsp vanilla essence
6 SPAR Freshline Chocolate
Hot Cross Buns
SPAR Salted Butter, to fry

TO SERVE
SPAR Plain Cream Cheese
bacon rashers, grilled
until crispy

SPAR Freshline
Pomegranate Rubies,
to garnish
SPAR Maple-Flavoured
Syrup, to drizzle

HOW TO DO IT
1 For the French toast, place
the eggs, cream, salt and
vanilla essence in a medium
bowl. Whisk until combined
and smooth.
2 Cut each hot cross bun
widthways into 3 slices. Heat
a non-stick frying pan over
medium heat and add a
knob of butter. Working in
batches, briefly dip the hot
cross bun slices into the egg
mixture, ensuring that each
slice is thoroughly coated.
Once the butter in the frying
pan has melted, arrange

the slices in the pan and fry
until golden, about 1 minute
per side. Remove from pan
and stack the slices on top
of each other on a serving
plate. Repeat until all of the
slices have been fried.
3 To serve, spread the French
toast slices with the cream
cheese. Top with the crispy
bacon, pomegranate rubies
and a generous drizzle of
the maple-flavoured syrup.
Serve immediately.
