ome marques seem to grab thelimelightand
Bultaco have certainlydone that since that
far-off dayinlate 1964 when Sammy Miller
parked up his Ariel and castaleg over the
development SherpaT.
It seems almosteverytrials nameever hasridden a
Bultaco at some time or other andafair fewofthem
were in afield nearKendal inJune to rideagain inthe
Bultaco RevivalNostalgiaTrial 2019.With US former
world trialschampion–1979 on Bultaco –Bernie
Schreiber as guest of honourandmaximisin ghis
time in the UK therewas alot of inte rest in the trial,
as Bernie hasbeen off the scene foralongtime.
Typicallyfor June theweather can be mixed and
as most riders did lap one in thedrytherefollowed
the second lap of thecoursewhichwas damper.
With sections laid out onavariety of terrains from
streams tomuddyclimbs, therewas enough of a
Bultacosuperstarsbeforetheeveningdinner,left,Yrjo
Vesterinen;centre,guestofhonourBernieSchreiber
andright,CharlesCoutard,justthreeofthemanynames
associatedwithBultaco.TheSherpainfrontofthemwas
Bernie’smountinthefollowingday’strial.

Aneveningwiththestarsandguestscomperedby
RobinLuscombewastheattractiononFridayeveningat
theStonecrossManorhotelinKendal.Anexcellentmeal
wasfollowedbyentertainmentintheformofRobin’s
interviewsandacharityauction.Apackeddiningroom
respondedmagnificentlyasLuskyteasedpoundafter
poundoutoftheaudience.Theylistenedintentlyas
talesweretoldofBultacoexploitsfromtheworksand
factoryriderspresentandtheyapplaudedasBernie
Schreibertoldofhistimewiththefactoryandbeyond.
Afterwardstherewasachancetochatandinteractwith
trialsridersofallabilities,thoughnaturallytheBultaco
teammemberswerepopular.

The Westm orland clubmarked the trial out with
dualroutes andseveral classes,includingaVIP
coursethatmeant riders could opt whichroute they
did at eachsection. The ideawasfor everyone to
have agood dayout and thecancer carecharityto
getasmanydonations as possible.
