THE OUTER WORLDS
PS4, Xbox One, PC
If you’re after an enormous RPG to keep
you occupied when the days start to get
shorter, this looks like the best bet. Set in
a futuristic space colony, it has a distinctive
visual style and a sense of humour that’s
prompted comparisons with Fallout: New
Ve g a s. And that’s a very good thing.

SHENMUE III
PS4, PC
Nearly 20 years and a $6m Kickstarter
campaign later, a third Shenmue title is
finally happening. Picking up where 2001’s
Shenmue II left off, the game once again
has you playing as Ryo Hazuki, still on the
hunt for his father’s killer in 1980s China...
but still, it would appear, in no hurry.

DEATH STRANDING
PS4
Only Hideo Kojima could release a 9-minute
trailer for his latest game that still has us
wondering what the hell is going on. We do
know that the Metal Gear Solid creator’s
new project is an open-world action game
set on a future Earth where civilisation has
collapsed and mankind faces extinction.

FIRST LOOK YES, WE HAVE NEW BANANAS

INCOMING

We’re not saying great
simian-based games have
been hard to come by in
recent years. Between the
platforming masterclass of
the re-released Donkey Kong

Country: Tropical Freeze and
indie gem Ape Out’s fusion
of jazz and violence, monkey
gaming is in a good place.
But it’s been far too long
since we had a new Super
Monkey Ball title. These Sega
arcade games, in which you’re
tasked with guiding a monkey
in a ball (duh) around tricky
courses without falling off or
running out of time, peaked

with their early GameCube
entries; but after a long gap,
now feels like the right time
for a console comeback.
Before seasoned ballers
get their hopes up, though,
this isn’t a brand new game:
it’s a remaster of the 2006
Wii title of the same name,
which got a mixed critical
reception at the time. But as
well as updated graphics and

optimised control schemes
for each of the platforms it’s
launching on, the remastered
game features a new mode
called Decathlon, where you
complete 10 mini-games
in a row. There are online
leaderboards too.
Show Sega the love now
and, fingers crossed, we could
see a next-gen Monkey Ball
game in the near future.
