A sensational camera phone

that gets a lot right despite

its overbearing software

If you can get past the fact that

the Reno 10x Zoom is a big phone

packed with bloatware, you may

well fall in love with it. It’s powerful,

the screen is gorgeous, the camera

is the best in the £700 class and the battery

lasts for ages. And much of what we don’t like

about the UI can be dialled back, making it an

ideal choice for eager zoomers. @BasilKnows

Q Finest murk song

The primary camera is

much better in low light

than the other two, with

great noise handling and

a dedicated night mode.

Its pictures look a bit less

heavily processed than

those of the P30 Pro.

Q Three radicals

The primary 48MP cam

and 13MP telephoto both

feature optical image

stabilisation. There’s

also an 8MP wide-angle,

with a 16mm equivalent

focal range so you can get

landscapes in frame.

Q All fins must pass

The front cam’s pop-up

mechanism feels more

sturdy than the one on

the OnePlus 7 Pro. The

pictures it takes are also

good, with a scalable

beauty mode and a flash...

but no wide-angle option.

Q Zoom’s on fire

All three cameras will do

a decent job in good light,

and the telephoto’s detail

is very impressive at up

to 5x zoom. Note: the 10x

figure giving the phone its

name is for hybrid zoom,

using digital trickery.
