manyRingBrothers’creations,thisone-
of-a-kindCadillaccombinesthebestof

bothworlds—vintageandmodern.
ThefourcarsinvolvedintheMadam
V projectwerea pairof’48Cadillacse-
danettes, a used 2015 CadillacATS-V
anda brandnew 2016 CadillacATS-V.
Wes Rydell, a car dealer from Grand

Forks, N.D., who commissioned the
MadamV,providedallofthecars.
RingBrothersstartedbytearingthe
late-model Cadillacs completely apart.
JimandMiketookthecarsalltheway
downtotheirunit-bodystructures.They
then lengthened the 2016 chassis by
14 inches to accommodate the longer
1948 body.The 2016 ATS-Visa com-
plex modern vehicle with many inter-
connectedsystems thatdon’t takewell
tomeddlingcustomizers,sotheRings
madeit a point nottodisturbthecars’
fuelsystems.Also,theylengthenedthe
wiringwithGM-approvedconnectorsto
simplifythecar’stransitionandpreserve
thefunctionalityofthemodernameni-
ties.
OneofthedesigngoalsforMadam
V wasto make it looklike a car that
Cadillacwouldhavebuilt,sotheRings
incorporated design cues from these-
danettesandblendedthemwithmotifs
