ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES
Bringing Express Mode to the London
Underground demonstrates Apple’s
commitment to changing the way we live.
Though Apple Pay can’t change the way we
travel on its own (not until the launch of Apple
Car), it can create convenient experiences that
save time and allow us to stay focused on the
day ahead. As Apple Pay Express Mode rolls out
to more transport networks around the world,
we’ll soon be able to leave the house without
our wallets and get to where we want to be -
whether that’s a ride into town to catch up with
friends or a trip to the other side of the world.
Apple Wallet boarding passes are already here,
but Apple Pay in the air could be next, with
airlines rolling out NFC payments, marking a
road to contactless payments like Apple Pay.
And thanks to intelligent data from transit
companies and the power of Apple Maps,
building a network around travel has never been
easier. If you tap in at London King’s Cross, Apple
could use Siri to recommend restaurants or
theatre shows nearby if it knows you’re catching
up with friends in the city, and integrate third-
party software such as Uber and TodayTix.
It’s unknown just how many new transit
companies and organizations Apple is currently
working with to introduce Express Mode to
Apple Pay, though it’s expected that there are
several in the pipeline, as little was known about
