talkmakeswayformyskin.
DrKiranisnostrangertomyskin
woes,andshe’sseenitthroughits
murkiestdays.I’vealwaysappreciatedher
minimalisticapproachtoskincare,andthe
factthatshedoesn’trecommendtoomany
proceduresfortheskin.AndbecauseI
knowI’minsafehands,I(blindly)follow
herskincarerecommendations.
Today’snodifferent.Sheexamines
myskinandasksmeafewquestions,the
answerstowhichdeterminethatmyskinis
sensitivebecauseofmildrosacea.There’sputmemoreatease.Ienterone of the
rooms,takeoffmyjewellery,and lie down
onthecomfortabletable.Thetherapist
pinsbackmyhairwithabandand I’m all
settogo—there’snoelaboratechanging
intoagowninvolved,thankfully. A cool
cleanserisappliedonmyface,worked
intoalather,andwipedoff.Ilook into
themirrornexttometofindthat my eye
makeupandlipstickremainintact.
Then,it’stimeforthezip,zap, zooming
tobegin.Myeyesarecoveredwith swabs of
cottonandprotectiveeyewear,and almost
immediatelytheprocessbegins.There’s
theregularclickety-clickofthelaser and
thefamiliarsingeingsensationas it makes
aslowcourseovermyface.It’snot an
uncomfortablefeelingatall;almost as soon
astheprocessbegins,yougetused to it. And
then,inamatterof 15 minutes,it’s all done.
Myfaceismassagedwithaniceballoon, a
sunscreenisapplied,andI’mgood to go!
There’sboundtobeateensy bit of
sensitivity, but the ice balloon soothes it
at once. The onset of the promised glow is
bursting through the redness, and I can’t
wait to see it all! I say my goodbyes to Dr
Kiran, set up my next appointment, and
walk out of Isya with a spring in my step
and skin that is bound to look and feel as
