of face (and body) masks work? We went to the pros, Maria
Hatzistefanis, founder of Rodial, and Laetitia Labassee, national
sales and training director for Origins, to find out.
How sheet masks work
Facial sheet masks are paper-like cutouts
most often made of bio cellulose, hydrogel
or cotton and are infused with active ingredi-
ents that, when applied, absorb into your
skin. The mask acts as a barrier to the ele-
ments, which allows its skin-saving com-
pounds to deeply penetrate the dermis.
How to use
sheet masks
Thanks to a paper-thin, pre-cut format, these
masks are easy to apply and remove. Simply
take the mask out of its packaging and unfold
it to reveal the shape of a face. Place the mask
over your clean skin, adjusting and smooth-
ing to make sure it stays on. Leave on for 15
to 20 minutes (or the time recommended on
the mask’s instructions). Gently remove the
mask and massage any surplus residue into
the skin—no need to rinse! Do this one or two
times a week to achieve healthy glowing skin.
How to choose the
right sheet mask
All masks are not created equal. If you want
